Judging Criteria:

In every category, the judges will apply the following criteria in making their judgement:

○ Originality

○ Innovation

○ Quality of planning and execution

○ Delivery of desirable economic development or regeneration

 

Please read before submitting your entry:

○ We use the Oxford Abstracts platform to manage Awards entries. Clicking the “Enter Now” button will take you to the Oxford Abstracts website, where you will be asked to create a free account before submitting your entry.

○ If you submitted an entry via Oxford Abstracts last year, you will already have an account and you can use the “Forgot password” link to reset your password if necessary.

○ You can enter the same project/team in multiple categories where relevant, but please complete a separate submission for each category that you enter.

○ Terms and conditions of entry, and guidelines for entries, are on the entry form.

Feature of Winning Entries in the Healthcare Estates Programme

Winners of the Healthcare Estates Awards are invited to take part in special sessions as part of the programme of activities for Day 2 of Healthcare Estates (14 October 2026), with (for some of the Awards) a supporting article in IHEEM’s Health Estate Journal

2026 Awards Categories

Apprentice of the Year

The award invites entries from apprentices at intermediate, advanced, higher and degree level.

Consultancy Practice of the Year

This award recognises a multi-disciplinary consultancy, architectural practice, or construction consultants (including building or quantity surveyors and project management companies) who have demonstrated outstanding work in the healthcare sector over the last 12 months: May 2025– 2026.

Diversity & Inclusion Award

This award recognises the organisation, individual or initiative that has made a genuine difference in equality, diversity and inclusion within the healthcare environment.

Apprentice of the Year

This award is made to a team working in the healthcare sector who can demonstrate outstanding achievement, performance and delivery of estates and facilities services. May 2025 – 2026.

Healthcare Supplier of the Year

This award recognises the individual, team, or company that has been supplying an NHS, or private healthcare facility successfully, and reliably over the past 12 months May 2025 – 2026.

Estates & Facilities Champion of Champions

This award recognises a member of the Estates & Facilities team that has gone above and beyond their job specification to improve the patient environment.

Estates & Facilities Team of the Year

This award is made to a team working in the healthcare sector who can demonstrate outstanding achievement, performance and delivery of estates and facilities services. May 2025 – 2026.

Healthcare Supplier of the Year

This award recognises the individual, team, or company that has been supplying an NHS, or private healthcare facility successfully, and reliably over the past 12 months May 2025 – 2026.

Net Zero Innovation Award

The Net Zero Innovation Award should recognise teams, initiatives, projects or technologies that deliver measurable, real-world carbon reduction within healthcare estates, backed by strong governance and practical implementation. It should reward outcomes that are not only innovative, but replicable, scalable and demonstrably deliverable across the NHS estate; delivered within the period May 2025 – May 2026.

New Build Project of the Year

This award recognises the project team that has successfully delivered a new build project in the past 12 months: May 2025 – 2026. 

Product Innovation of the Year

This award recognises the best new product brought to market within the last 12 months. May 2025 – 2026.

Net Zero Innovation Award

The Net Zero Innovation Award should recognise teams, initiatives, projects or technologies that deliver measurable, real-world carbon reduction within healthcare estates, backed by strong governance and practical implementation. It should reward outcomes that are not only innovative, but replicable, scalable and demonstrably deliverable across the NHS estate; delivered within the period May 2025 – May 2026.

New Build Project of the Year

This award recognises the project team that has successfully delivered a new build project in the past 12 months: May 2025- 2026. 

Product Innovation of the Year

This award recognises the best new product brought to market within the last 12 months. May 2025 – 2026.

Refurbishment Project of the Year

This award recognises the project team that has successfully delivered a refurbishment project in the past 12 months: May 2025 – 2026.

Staff Wellbeing Initiative of the Year

This award recognises an initiative or programme introduced within a Trust to ensure the wellbeing and mental health of its team.

Sustainable Achievement

This award recognises the organisation, team, or product that has made the best use of innovative technology and sustainable practices to reduce the estate’s carbon footprint.

Refurbishment Project of the Year

This award recognises the project team that has successfully delivered a refurbishment project in the past 12 months: May 2025 – 2026.
