Steve Webb, Director for organiser Step Exhibitions comments; “we are seeing some fantastic new technology and innovation coming through in the healthcare sector, no more so than in the NHS in an attempt to save money, increase efficiency and enhance and improve the patient experience. In the year we celebrated 70 years of the NHS and 75 years of IHEEM the event took on a special significance with the marking of these two milestones. The conference was opened with something a little different with a special feature ‘looking back in time’ with an actor playing the part of NHS founder, Aneurin Bevan the Former Secretary of State for Health in the United Kingdom”.

Webb continued; “we work closely with a number of key organisations to attract as diverse an audience as possible. Last year we launched the apprentice initiative to attract more apprentices which proved extremely successful this year and resulted in many trusts and suppliers bringing apprentices and previous apprentices to share their experiences and learn from the 250 exhibitors showcasing the latest products and services. We were also able to award the first Apprentice of the Year at the annual awards ceremony.

Webb continued, “The Facilities Management Theatre supported by Hefma, the Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals, Healthcare Facilities Consortium, and FM North gave facilities managers working in healthcare a great opportunity to learn about the latest initiatives and how their area impacts on key areas within hospitals”.
