Healthcare Estates Exhibition & Conference 2017 – Troup Bywaters & Anders to support new Apprentice Theatre

This year’s Healthcare Estates offers six ‘exhibition theatres’ for all attendees. The theatres offer a myriad of complimentary content presented by HE event partners. Over 30 hours of FREE TO ATTEND sessions all of which are CPD Accredited by IHEEM ensure that all visitors are able to maximise their attendance with quality content and key ‘takeaways’ to share with colleagues within their trusts.

Details of the six theatres and what attendees can expect to see at Healthcare Estates are outlined in a promotion being sent to previous attendees and key organisations during April. The six dedicated areas and theatres on the exhibition floor provide complimentary content over the two days of Healthcare Estates and are run in conjunction with our supporting partners. The details for each area will be finalised over the next two months with the detailed content announced along with the full conference programme in June.

New for 2017 are the Facilities Management Theatre and Apprentice Today Leaders Tomorrow Theatre.

 The Apprentice Today Leaders Tomorrow Theatre focuses on the significant changes taking place within the health sector, including the introduction of new roles and changes to how training will be funded. Many trusts are looking at NHS apprenticeships as a way of meeting the challenges that lie ahead. Apprenticeship and traineeship programmes can be a cost-effective way to create a skilled, flexible and motivated workforce and can help employees keep pace with developments in technology and working practices within healthcare. The Facilities Management Theatre represents the new collaboration between HefMa and IHEEM and offers a two programme focusing on hard and soft FM in healthcare. Other theatres include the Water & Infection Control Theatre supported by Water Management Society and Legionella Control Association, sponsored by Delabie. The Water & Infection Control theatre provides a platform for NHS Estates & Facilities professionals to interact with companies who provide solutions for water safety across the NHS. This focused theatre will provide Estates & Facilities professionals to educate themselves on specialist topics such as Rapid Microbiology, Existing and Emerging Water Pathogens and the Challenges of Infection Control and Engineering. The Energy & Sustainability Theatre will focus on ongoing work and latest techniques & innovation carried out in the NHS to reduce the carbon footprint of the largest single estate in the UK. A full two day programme delivered with partnering associations and exhibitors. The area is supported by CEF who also coordinate i-depth content specifically created to fund, facilitate and project manage complex energy infrastructure upgrades for the NHS. Healthcare Design Theatre in conjunction with the Construction Industry Council and Architects for Health, P22, BIM4Health, Construction Industry Council and Design in Mental Health Network the zone is sponsored by Delabie. Focussed on the design, construction and specification of UK healthcare projects. Sessions will feature case studies, talks from leading specifiers and examples of innovative technologies from supporting exhibitors. A key destination for architects, contractors and clients as it features the latest case studies, findings from post occupancy evaluation as well as the sharing of best practice in healthcare design. The Hospital Engineering theatre will feature presentations by leading NHS Trusts on recently completed innovative engineering projects. The theatre is supported by IHEEM and NAHFO and will feature examples of engineering excellence, case-studies and best practice.

Registration opens in May – New Reduced delegate rates for 2017

Hospital Innovations secure Sir Robert Naylor on Day 2

As HEJ went to press Hospital Innovations announced that Sir Robert Naylor would be speaking at this year’s event to present the findings of his independent review of NHS Estates and Property. Sir Robert is former Chief Executive at University College London Hospitals and was asked by the Secretary of State for Health to undertake this work.

The event will be chaired by Simon Corben (Director and Head of Profession, NHS Estates and Facilities Efficiency & Productivity Division). There will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.

The report sets out a vision for how the NHS can achieve best value from its estates to support delivery of the Five Year Forward View and the emerging Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships.

The review considered:

The size of the opportunity – building on the Carter Report;

The mix of incentives and sanctions required for delivery;

How to strengthen capacity and capability across the system.
