Healthcare Estates & Hospital Innovations

The conference programme for Hospital Innovations is shaping up with Simon Corben, Director and Head of Profession NHS Estates and Facilities, NHS Improvement confirmed as a Keynote Speaker on the 6th of June at University College London. www.hospital-innovations.com

With the theme of “Innovation in Support of the Patient”, the event will focus on innovation and technology both to improve efficiency, and enable sustainability of the Estate, and to improve and enhance the patient experience and treatment.  The subject of energy saving and sustainability will be covered by Elementa Consulting and the Carbon & Energy Fund, who will consider utilising renewable energy for healthcare estates, and will demonstrate how substantial energy savings are possible based on a completed scheme that is already delivering ca. £230,000 in monthly savings.  The results of trials at Burton NHS Foundation Trust into brand new technology for sterilisation will be presented at the conference, potentially opening the door to rapid, effective surface decontamination and sterilisation across the NHS.  Technology remaining at the forefront, there will be a session on the UK’s first high energy proton beam therapy unit by the Director of Capital, Estates and Facilities at the Christie NHS Trust, in which he will share his experiences of the project, including the engineering, project management, and innovative patient services provision that have gone in to this pioneering research.  Patient engagement and outcomes will be discussed in relation to an app designed for a children’s A&E setting to minimise stress, provide information to demystify some of the elements of a medical setting, and improve the experience for both children and their parents and carers.   Sometimes means of saving money are right in front of us, and multiples of small changes can add up to large savings across the Estate; repairing and refurbishing rather than replacing estates assets are the way to achieve this, as well as streamlining mundane but essential functions, such as cleaning.  From one extreme to another; money saving via innovation, and money saving by more practical means, will be covered by the conference, to further progress the savings targets of the 5 year plan.

Key Sponsors and Supporters at Hospital Innovations sees some of the leading companies showcasing products and services and delivering presentations, companies confirming their involvement include:  Drax Technology, Salto Systems, Thorlux Lighting, PPL Training and Static Systems. Hospital Innovations is the definitive gathering of NHS leaders and decision makers with leading innovators looking to partner with the NHS and healthcare sector.

The event provides a unique opportunity to network with senior figures, to engage in discussions, take part in valuable networking and make connections with relevant organisations from the NHS at a critical time with innovation and cost saving at the forefront of the government and healthcare sector.

Looking to the future is echoed in presentations on the future of healthcare, whereby doctor appointments are virtual and personalised car packaged become the norm, and long term strategic planning for the future with delivery now.  The future of rehabilitation will be discussed, and safeguarding against future risk of contractor liquidation is a timely topic that will also be covered.
