Healthcare Estates launches new zone ……

Healthcare Estates and IHEEM have announced a brand new partnership with the Water Management Society and British Electrotechnical Association (BEAMA) at Healthcare Estates 2015. Steve Webb, Show Director said ‘Following research to visitors, delegates and exhibitors there is a significant interest in an area and theatre focussed on Infection Control and Waterborne Diseases. Working with the Water Management Society (WMSoc) and BEAMA we will launch the very first Infection Control and Waterborne Diseases Zone complete with a 2 day theatre programme run in partnership with these two organisations and supported by their members.

The zone will provide a “go to” area on the exhibition floor for those with a focus on infection control in order to find out about the latest research and technological advances, discuss the challenges faced by the NHS on a day-to-day basis and view the latest products and discuss the latest services designed for healthcare facilities.

Elise Maynard, Vice Chair of The Water Management Society said ‘We (WMSoc) are delighted to have been invited to be involved in a new initiative at the 2015 IHEEM congress.  It is clear from all the new guidance documents e.g. ACoP L8 and HSG 274, CIBSE TM13 and HTM 04-01 addendum that waterborne disease in both domestic and healthcare water distribution systems is of great concern. The industry has responded with a variety of innovative new products and designs, which we hope to harness in one dedicated area of the exhibition hall.  A programme of speakers is being planned to complement the main programme.  For more information on our work visit www.wmsoc.org.uk or contact the team on 01827 289558

Simon Harpin, Manager – Water Treatment said “Healthcare is an important market for BEAMA Water Safety & Hygiene members, whose products benefit the sector by preventing scalding and enabling effective water temperature control to tackle bacterial growth. We will offer technical guidance to increase understanding of our members’ products and how they relate to the whole water system and its users. We also promote cooperation and expertise throughout the industry.”

Steve Webb said, ‘Both organisations are supporting the infection control and water borne disease zone and will deliver relevant content. Healthcare Estates is attended by NHS professionals who manage facilities in which infection control is a key topic. In fact this is a topic that is ever present on the exhibition floor as every amendment to the NHS estate must be conducive to a clean and sterile environment for care’.

Healthcare Estates takes place slightly later in 2015 on the 20 and 21 October at Manchester Central (GMEX), and incorporates an exhibition with sector focussed theatres, run in conjunction with the IHEEM Conference and Dinner.

Julian Amey, Chief Executive of IHEEM comments:

‘IHEEM are working closely with a number of key organisations and commercial companies to explain the many changes in the healthcare sector. Our annual Conference and Exhibition allows our members and affiliate organisations to come together to debate the issues impacting on healthcare estates and facilities’.

Healthcare Estates Conference, Exhibition and Dinner offers a compelling two days of high level content. The outline programme will be announced in April and further details on the positive impact for exhibitors will be announced next month’.

Steve Webb, Show Director said; ‘We plan to continue our focus on key subject areas with dedicated content on’:

  • Engineering
  • Facilities
  • Estate management and rationalisation
  • Architecture, design, property and maintenance
  • Financial management
  • Renewable technologies
  • Energy Saving

We will work closely with our event supporters, each of whom provide intelligence and access to key speakers ensuring the content is timely and relevant. In 2015 we will be working with Architects for Health, BRE, Design in Mental Health Network, Building & Engineering Services, Construction Industry Council, HEFMA, Medical Gas Association, National Association of Fire Officers, Procure 21+, and the Carbon and Energy Fund.

We have continued to develop the event by working hard with IHEEM, our partners and the venue to provide a compelling and informative showcase for the healthcare sector. Last year (2014) saw further growth in our visitor numbers across the UK as the event is now established as the main event for healthcare engineers, estates managers and facilities managers’.

In addition to these key organisations we also have support from some of the leading suppliers and manufacturers to the healthcare sector.

Further developments are due to be announced in the spring with special delegate and VIP packages offered to previous attendees, selected healthcare employees, IHEEM members and guests of our exhibitors.

Mr Webb explained ‘Healthcare Estates provides delegates and visitors with an opportunity to look the new ideas available to them, examples of success stories from other trusts and qualified advisers to explain what changes can be made to help directors and managers run their trusts and manage their budgets’.
