ASHRAE- REHVA Guidebook Towards Zero-Energy Hospital Buildings

This session will be lead by Wim Maassen, Senior Consultant Energy and Sustainability at Royal HaskoningDHV, TU/e Fellow at Eindhoven University of Technology; Maya Shalabasheva, Principal Mechanical Engineer, Kaiser Permanente, and Walt Vernon, Principal Electrical Engineer, Mazzetti.
In recognition of recent findings from the IPCC, the World Health Organization is in the process of adopting aggressive actions to encourage global healthcare facilities to approach net zero energy. REHVA and ASHRAE are collaborating on a new book, aimed at helping international health facility designers and operators to get closer to the goal of net zero hospitals.
This session, by three of the authors of the new book, will give an overview of its strategies and highlight some of the case studies, showcasing both the accomplishments and the challenges inherent in this evolution of thinking.
