Anthony Hickson

Anthony joined the NHS Improvement team in May 2018 with the task of assisting and developing all Estates and FM matters that affect all providers and commissioners within the NHS.

Anthony’s career commenced by working with Hadley Design as the Contract Administrator of the largest concrete repair contract in Europe, £11m. This involved the full refurbishment of 3 tower blocks for Westminster Council – Keats, Shelley and Byron.

Successfully completing the contract Anthony moved to Wates as Senior Project Design manager, working on the Royal National Hotel extension in central London.

Following a successful leisure sector project, Anthony worked for AMEC successfully developing a hotel chain for a major client – later to be taken over by the De Vere Group.

Responsibilities included site appraisal and purchase, followed by complete design management, construction, commissioning and handover.

Anthony’s career within the NHS, now over 20 years’ experience, commencing with North Western Regional Health Authority as a Senior Project Manager providing Estates support and management for major Capital developments within the NW of England.

After 5 years with NWRHA, Anthony joined Mouchel Consulting as an Associate Director to head the management of the £125m consolidation of the Battle Hospital and Royal Berks Hospital for Royal Berkshire NHS Trust. The project included refurbishment and new build of most department within a major acute site.

In 2002, Anthony formed a Project Management and Design Consultancy, which operated successfully until April 2017. The consultancy provided specialist advice and management for NHS trusts, including; Business Case development, Feasibility Studies, Design Development, Contract Procurement incl P22, Contract Management, Planning & Programming and Commissioning.
