Biography

David Powell, Project Director, nVCC

David is Project Director at Velindre University NHS Trust responsible for the new Velindre Cancer Centre. He joined Velindre UNHS Trust in May 2020 to develop the new Velindre Cancer Centre. David is also combining this with a role to complete the Alder Hey Health Campus for Alder Hey CNHSFT. David joined the Alder Hey Board as development director in December 2012 and has over 30 years’ experience working in the NHS. Prior to his role at Alder Hey, David held development director posts in Bristol and London, overseeing new hospital programmes.

Sophie Crocker, Architect, White Arkitekter

Sophie is an architect with a decade of experience and specialisation in healthcare design and research. She has worked on healthcare projects across the UK, Middle East and China and understands the importance of using international best practice to inform a uniquely local design. Sophie is currently clinical design lead for the new Velindre Cancer Centre, leading user engagement meetings with patient, staff and government stakeholders to develop a design that meets everyone’s aspirations.
