Lars Wiegand

Deputy Head of Property & Estates Development, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust

Biography

Lars is an Architect who previously worked in a successful multi-disciplinary design studio working at the leading edge of contemporary design & strategic planning.

After some 15 years working in the private sector, Lars joined Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in September 2013. This Trust is comprised of Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Saint Mary’s Hospital, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, University Dental Hospital Manchester, Wythenshawe Hospital, Trafford General Hospital, Withington Community Hospital, Altrincham Hospital and Community services.

In his current position, Lars is responsible for the strategic development of all of the MFT estate and the management of the Capital Development Programme, encompassing all new Construction and Refurbishment schemes and he is responsible for developing a team of Project Managers in order to deliver all of these schemes.

Lars has brought a passion for bringing in new intelligent technologies to inform the Capital Development Programme to the Trust. He wants to enable the Trust to make evidence based decisions to reduce the Capital cost of projects whilst delivering Clinical and non- Clinical developments that enhance patient & staff experiences.

Lars has a desire to deliver excellent and innovative design, achieving value for money and best practice.
