Biography

Scott’s background is in aero systems engineering, having spent 28 years in the Royal Navy working on various aircraft. In 2011, he undertook an MSc in Engineering and Project Management and achieved chartered engineer status in 2012. He moved into accident investigation in 2014, working at the Defence Accident Investigation Branch as an engineering investigator focusing on the areas of maritime and aviation, before moving into healthcare safety investigation in 2017. In 2021 he took the opportunity of a secondment with NHSX delivering a programme for portfolio & programme management. Within his role as Deputy Director of Investigations at Health Services Safety Investigations he has been leading on investigations into mental health care, provision of health care in prisons, care for patients with Learning Disabilities, and design of paediatric wards to support patients with mental health needs amongst many other investigations.
