Biography

Sir David Behan began his career as a qualified social worker.  He has previously held the role of Director of Social Services in three local authorities.  Sir David became the first Chief Inspector of the Commission for Social Care Inspection in 2003 and following this worked for the Department of Health as the Director General for Social Care, Local Government and Care Partnerships. He was also a member of the NHS Management Board.  Between 2012 and 2018 he was Chief Executive of the Care Quality Commission. Sir David is now Chair of Health Education England.
