Air Handling Unit (AHU) Compliance to HTM-03-01 (2021)
This condensed CPD by Daikin Applied UK focuses on the AHU element of HTM-03-01 (Healthcare Technical Memoranda) and explains what the main changes have been since the previous issue, and what the main design considerations are in-order for an AHU to be compliant with the guidance. This is a lengthy document and there has been a lot of confusion and non-conformity in the market. This CPD is designed for anyone wishing to fully understand the guidance to be able to confidently purchase an HTM-03-01-compliant AHU.
LO’s
1. Understand the main changes to the guidance vs the 2007 issue
2. Understand the main design expectations from the latest guidance with regard to AHU’s
3. Understand the risks of poor AHU design – non-compliant solutions

Smart Infrastructure For Smart Hospitals
In this presentation, we will look at the use of digital solutions/technologies to proactively and continuously monitor electrical equipment. How the use of technology can help reduce CO2 emissions, help make renewable investment decisions, improve availability of electrical assets and reduce the time to identify and fix any faults.
We will also look at existing monitoring devices and how to achieve regulatory compliance through the use of digital technology instead of manual intervention or through the use of discrete components.
Key Learning Points
• Introduction to the new monitoring technology
• How this technology can help to comply with regulatory standards
• What are the key benefits of connectivity within smart hospitals

Achieving Net Zero Using Hybrid Ventilation Approaches
There is a new guidance due to be released around the deployment and use of HEPA filtration within the healthcare environment. This will lay out a basis whereby equivalent air changes per hour (eACH) can be utilised by engineers to provide part of the total air changes per hour for ventilation (ACH). Recirculation of air has always been problematic under Htm03 and this new guidance will lay out the basis on how this can be achieved. The proposed talk is aimed at CP, AP, AE etc ventilation to lay out information around how filtration is tested and can be evaluated. This will expand on information contained within the new guidance, which it is expected will be released by HCE2023. The talk will also cover comparisons between mobile and fixed systems using generalised case studies. The objective will be to give attending engineers the basic information they require to safely assess, deploy and maintain filtration units within their built environments. It will close laying out how these approaches can be successfully utilised to aid in the delivery of net zero.

A Bold New Way to Disinfect Hospitals
Connor and Josh will provide an introduction to how cutting edge AI and Robotics technologies can help with infection control and air quality challenges improving operational efficiency, sustainability and reducing capital cost of new build and refurbishment projects. The presentation will include a case study of a trail of this technology where Joanne Taylor, Consultant Nurse and Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control at RCHT, commented: “The robot has definitely improved things for patients as the reduced downtime means we can get more patients seen in a day, while maintaining the highest standards in environmental cleanliness. Based on time savings made during the trial period, we estimate that its use could enable as many as 2,400 additional procedures a year which would have a very significant effect on reducing the waiting lists.”

The Good, Bad and the Ugly in MEP Healthcare Design
It's not a western & NO COWBOYS allowed!! We'll be looking at designs from a MEP Consultants viewpoint, looking at what are the easy wins, biological control measures in MEP design, then followed by how sustainable healthcare can operate. Have you ever experienced projects that have gone so right & other times so wrong? We'll be questioning as to whether Value Engineering (VE) is always the best option / compromise. Would the pro-active approach be accepted as a higher cost at installation, to save on running / maintenance costs later? And finally, is it easy to retrofit? VE'd items after the initial installation & can that be an option in the space planning?
