During the Coronavirus pandemic, Wandsworth Healthcare has been operating with a dedicated skeleton crew to provide nurse call systems, gas panels and medical service columns for thousands of new NHS beds which are being set-up to deal with the influx of patients suffering from COVID-19.
Wandsworth Healthcare’s wireless nurse call system, Connected Care has been a popular choice during the pandemic, supporting the need for rapid ward creation in unusual environments. Working with NG Bailey, Connected Care was deployed for the North West Nightingale in Manchester. Wandsworth have also partnered creatively with other equipment manufacturers (Arm & Scope) to deliver a large scale nurse call installation with Integral for the UWE Nightingale in Bristol. In total, Wandsworth deployed wireless nurse call systems to cover over 1000 beds in these two hospitals alone. All units for both hospitals were programmed, supplied and installed within one week of enquiry.
The team at Wandsworth pulled together to ensure numerous hospitals and wards were completed as quickly as possible with nurse call, trunking and spares both from the Surrey based Factory and onsite installation, contributing to bringing into service over 2000 additional beds across the country.
Wandsworth are continuing to service existing installations throughout the lock down period, working with hospitals & NHS trusts to get Wandsworth Healthcare engineers classified as key workers in order to be able to attend site for repair as well as new installations. Along with all other key workers, we commend these engineers for their commitment to ensure vital bed completions and system repair & servicing.
Key to ensuring speed and dedication during the pandemic is that Wandsworth Healthcare is a UK Manufacturer, which meant that they were not disrupted by overseas supply chain shortages and could manufacture demand in less than 2 weeks. Their position as a UK Manufacturer has allowed them to support the growing need for ITU beds which require nurse call technology, data sockets, gas plates, grids and the other peripherals that support these critical beds.
