Healthcare Estates 2012 Call for papers

IHEEM Healthcare Estates Conference proposal call

The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management has issued a “Call for proposals” for this year’s IHEEM Healthcare Estates event, taking place at Manchester Central on 9-10 October 2012.

Siân Barker – IHEEM’s Events & Education Manager, says “In response to conference 2011 feedback we would welcome proposals on technical, engineering and estate management topics, as well as other issues that affect all the sectors involved in the healthcare estates supply chain.  These will form the basis of some of the streams within the conference.”

Although “not an exhaustive list”, suggested topics are:

• Energy conservation, including strategies, and engineering and build solutions.
• Sustainability, including recycling, waste management and travel plans.
• Improving the efficiency and productivity of the estate.
• Resilience.
• Decontamination guidance.
• Property and asset management in the public sector.
• Engineering services.
• Use of new engineering technology to improve estates performance.
• ‘FM focus’.
• DH guidance.
• Lean technology/management.
• Case studies on good estates and facilities management practice.

All proposals must be submitted electronically via the IHEEM website, click here. Entries should be submitted by 31 January 2012; the site provides full details on making a submission.

Healthcare Estates 2011

Over 2600 visitors, exhibitor guests, personnel and delegates attended this year's Healthcare Estates Exhibition and Conference, continuing the increases in attendance seen since the move to Manchester and the highest attendance in the events history. The attendance included 321 delegates and speakers who networked with exhibitors and visitors to discuss and see new ideas and developments available to them.

The record attendance is testament to the organisers' decision to take the event to Manchester. 'Last year was very much a test for Healthcare Estates and the conference and the feedback was extremely positive. Since the 2010  event moved to Manchester, we have worked hard to deliver a key audience to the sectors leading healthcare event. This year saw more key decision makers attend with a good growth in attendance.' Commented Steve Webb, Director.
